I History: Fourteen pupils were included in the first grade of Shirakatsy Lycee in 1998. The whole building of the Junior school was completed in a short period of time with the first, second and third grades and the number of pupils got to 150. Its first teacher Tatevik Vatyan was appointed the director of the Junior School.

Our Everyday Life: The Junior School is situated in a comfortable building. The number of classes is seventeen; the number of pupils in each group is below 14.

The children get a deep general education and study Russian and English languages from the first grade. The children study chess and art of dancing in the third grade. The lessons start at 9.00 and finish at 13.50. The pupils arrive and go back home by Lycee means of transportation which has special routes.

The classrooms are furnished with convenient furniture; each student has his own table and chair, which allows conducting the lessons in harmony with modern educational methods. The children can stay at school after classes, in case the parents wish, and under control of the teachers they do their assignments. The pupils have meals if they stay after classes. The preparation of the lessons finishes at 16.50.

Junior School houses the Psychological Service works whose aim is to care for the psychological health of the pupils. Each group has a psychologist who meets with the pupils once a week and realizes developing and psycho-preventive tasks. The psychologists can realize correcting tasks with pupils who have some problems in case of necessity. The psychological service is in close contact with pedagogues and parents.

Logopaedics service at school is to help the pupils who have problems with writing and oral speech. According to their preference the pupils attend different extra-educational groups – (drawing, chess, piano lessons, art of dancing, karate, and choir).

Various interesting evens are organized during the year – exhibitions, educational excursions, national holidays are celebrated with beautiful ceremonies.

All these contribute to the development of the pupils’ personality, ethnic self- consciousness, cooperation, moral qualities and expand their outlooks.

The teachers of the Junior School are elected by the competition.

They always improve their work and use new methods in their practice.
